Accessing Gale in Context: Opposing Viewpoints

Gale in Context: Opposing Viewpoints is a resource that brings together academic articles, audio, videos, opinion essays and primary sources about contemporary controversies and hot topics. Whether you need a balanced view or support for your position, Opposing Viewpoints is the first place to go when you’re researching a controversial or contentious issue.

Click the “View All” button on the left.

Scroll down the listing of databases and click on “Gale in Context: Opposing Viewpoints”

This is the home screen for Gale in Context: Opposing Viewpoints.

At the top of the Home Page is a tool bar where you can click on “Browse Issues” and “Curriculum Standards.” Browse Issues will pull up a list of alphabetized subjects. These may be narrowed down by category from the drop down menu. Curriculum Standards allows you to do a search based on a country (United States, Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, and Wales), Standards (State or National).

To search for a specific subject, you will need to use the search window.

At the top of the page is a search window, and it looks like this:

Type in the subject you are researching, and then click search. The results screen will then look like this.

This page will show academic journals, images, videos, audio, newspaper articles, magazine articles and entries from reference sources on your subject. Just click on the blue hyperlink for each title to access it. This will bring up the text of the article. Here's what an article will look like.

At the top of the screen are links to click on for highlight and notes, download, send to, cite, print,  and get link. This is what it looks like.
