Biography

Daniel D. Tompkins, (born June 21, 1774, Scarsdale, New York, U.S.—died June 11, 1825, Staten Island, New York), sixth vice president of the United States (1817–25) in the administration of Pres. James Monroe. He previously served as governor of New York (1807–17).
