Prepare and Avoid Quizzing Issues

If you're going to be taking a Canvas Quiz on campus, there are a few steps you can take to ensure the experience isn't more challenging than it's supposed to be:

  1. Make sure that your computer is fully charged before starting an exam. 
  2. Update your web browser—Canvas supports the last two versions of every major browser and recommends the newest version of the browser. 
  3. Never log in to Canvas on more than one browser during an exam, or you may accidentally overwrite a correct answer.

HonorLock Browser Add-On

In addition to the preparations described above, there are several things that will ensure a quiz requiring HonorLock goes smoothly:

  1. Make sure you have Honorlock Add-On installed to the Google Chrome browser. 
  2. Remember to close all other applications.

If HonorLock will not enable, try the following:

  1. Remove the HonorLock extension from Google Chrome.
  2. Clear the browser's cache.

If you have tried both options above and the HonorLock extension is still not working, try the following:

  1. Create a new profile in Google Chrome without using an account.
  2. Name new profile HonorLock.
  3. While on the new profile, sign into Canvas and download the extension.
  4. The extension should now be working. (Hopefully!)

Wireless on Campus

Be sure you connect to CVCC-Admin wifi.

Do not use CVCC or CVCC-Public while taking a quiz, particularly if your instructor is requiring that you use HonorLock.

Signing-In to the Wi-Fi on campus

Student Wi-Fi Login

  • Select CVCC-AUTH
  • Sign in with your Piratemail.cv.edu account
    • Username: First initial + Last name + Last 4 digits of your A# + @piratemail.cv.edu
      • EX: jsmith1234@piratemail.cv.edu
    • Password: !CVCC + 6-digit birthdate (MMDDYY)
      • EX: !CVCC010125
